I went in 2002 and it was freaking awesome! So much more to do than just gambling! The shows are incredible. Especially Cirque de solle. They have several different troops, each performing different shows! Even the free shows outside the casinos are awesome! Don't buy fast food in Vegas though.... expensive as Hell! Go to the all-you-can-eat buffets. Food is literally fit for a KING! At lower prices than the fast food places.

Word of warning.... Don't go if there's a convention in town that week. Prices on everything go through the roof!

i really want to go to vegas, but i'm scared! i spend like $200 at the casinos on the jersey boardwalk!!! i can only imagine how much money i would blow in vegas. did you spend a lot in the casinos or is it easy to occupy yourself with shows and what not? my parents just came back from vegas last month and all they talk about is what an amazing time they had.

i am definitely going to make it there one of these days!

Didn't spend a lot of time at the casinos. It's easy to occupy your time with the indoor shows, the free outdoor shows, and even just cruising through the streets of Vegas. :)

If you don't think you'd be able to control yourself, let your husband hold onto the money. One of my friends turns into a fiend whenever he's in a casino..... We hold onto most of his money for him, and don't let him gamble it all away.

i probably wont. for my 21st birthday i went to atlantic city, and i was there for about 20 minutes and i lost $10.00... so i left. gambling isn't as fun when it's for real. lol

then again, when i do make it to vegas i'll only be there for one thing... tom jones. isn't that why you initially went?

It's like comparing a Hyundai economy sedan to a Corvette, and saying both are similar because they are both cars. Vegas is a world unto itself. Sooo much to do there, besides gambling. I went in 2002 because my best friend was going back on his 6th or 7th visit. I had a better job back then, and had vacation time coming.

I told him the same thing, "What's so great about Vegas when A.C. is right next door?" He told me to check it out for myself. He was right! I had an awesome time, and even got to visit Disneyland a short car ride away. But I guess I was lucky to have him as a sort of Tour Guide.

If you ever go, be sure to check out Circus Circus, one of the best places to visit. And the stratusphere tower. (Be careful in downtown Vegas. Surprisingly high crime rate over there). The Buffet at Circus Circus is literally 3 rooms big! Small price, all you can eat, food fit for a King. I got to see George Carlin Live. Didn't even know he was performing in town. Vegas casinos pay huge $$$ for talented, big-name stars. The casinos can easily afford it. As long as you don't fall for their tricks of keeping you on their property to continue gambling, you'll be okay.
